American Cladding Technologies
American Cladding Technologies began as part of Joining Technologies Inc., founded in 1992 by entrepreneur Michael Francoeur. Joining Technologies got its start providing electron beam welding and grew to become a leader in precision laser welding, gas tungsten arc welding, full machining services and supply chain management.
Investment in laser cladding
In 2007, Joining Technologies began exploring the emerging field of laser applied powder applications and invested in the technology and training to master the process. In 2011, the company signed a joint cooperation agreement with Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology and opened a dedicated 10,000-square foot facility for its laser cladding division in East Granby, CT.
Building a reputation
The company earned a reputation for high-quality, innovative laser cladding solutions that provide wear- and corrosion-resistant coatings. Early success in laser cladding boiler tubes for the waste-to-energy power industry led the division to expand to additional markets including the aerospace, defense and valve industries. The company also expanded its work to include locomotives and industrial gas turbines.
In 2017, American Cladding Technologies became a subsidiary of Joining Industries and moved to a new 20,000-square foot facility at 15 International Drive in East Granby, CT. The larger facility enables the company to expand its capacity and staffing, and to continue delivering technological advances in the industry.
